The one plant in my house I did not check for toxicity to dogs was aloe. Poor pup spent the day at the vet but is fine.

She’s actually okay probably because I took her straight to the vet and she was on an IV all day. But I feel terrible. Bad plant mom and bad dog mom. Ugh

So I do not want to test this toxic aloe warning but can someone tell us where it actually comes from? I have an aloe plant that gets a left to right wing span of almost 3 feet in the wintertime. The first two winters that I had the plant my male carnivore like cat ate the darn thing. It destroyed it so badly so badly that by spring the plant got the following pep talk. - Hello. Anyone alive in there? If you are, and you survive the spring and summer out here in the concrete yard, then I won’t throw you away. - He’s what I call my Zombie Aloe Plant. Looks dead by consumption twice and drowning this past winter. He’s outside coming back from the dead for the third time. Oh and the cat has been fine twice. Not a hiccup or bodily function out of place. So why toxic?
