Moving week. I’m taking an ungodly amount of plants to a smaller space. I didn’t spill a single one despite a couple of spines to the thumb when I automatically reached out my arm at a sudden stop ha. Still working on it after, you know, making sure that I also have somewhere to sit.
I have trouble figuring out how often to water succulents and cacti (especially cacti). I know to let them fully dry out, but should I wait a while after that too? I figured after seeing your post that you were the person to ask lol. I appreciate any tips!

좋아요 1개 That question is difficult for me still, and got worse with so many species with unique needs - the complicated ones who need misting etc. Having all plants set up in Planta with automatic reminders is where to start, for sure. Any species I can’t find in this database is added as a general “cactus” and I might add some notes and set up my own water reminders in Planta. But even with that organization, I was still working through this setup.
좋아요 1개 It was a really funny problem to have. Growing this collection so quickly with a DIY mentality and improvised setup means I could name each plant according to a pain scale. But it’s still hilarious

Glad to hear you found liberation and peace with those dearly departed from your collection. 🖤 Believe it or not, your car-full of plants looks empty compared to how my horticulturists friend truck looked when she moved cross country from CA to KS. Its all about what you compare it to, right? If i had to move now, I’d have to rent a uhaul JUST for all my plants! Lol.
0개 좋아요 Seriously RIP. Yeah “hard decisions” is such a polite way to explain thinning the herd of what brought me joy last year. Friends offered to take some, but there is 0 chance these plants would be alive in 3 months unless I add “ben’s house” and “mom’s basement” to my sites. Does that sound more manageable? Ha.

좋아요 1개 One more thing because no one IRL gets how crazy and amazing and sad it is to send a 3-foot Apple Cactus 6 hours south because that is the only (OTHER) solution to maybe keep it alive until Winter.
