Tips for this guy? All the google images I’ve found, the head of the plant is much closer to the soil. Is he growing tall because he’s growing toward light, or is this normal for these guys? I’m still pretty new to succulents.

    it should be normale it does not look like its dieing or your doing anything wrong😊 but at the same time it doesn’t seem to be looking like its supposed to let me know what its called so i can do some researching on it, thanks 😅

      I repotted him from his nursery pot into a slightly bigger pot, but he is very top heavy 😂

      so it turns out yes! it’s supposed to be like that 😆 thoughs pictures you saw were it when it was just starting out 🌱 yours might be more than a couple months old! heres a picuter of what it’ll turn out to be 😃

    Usually, yes when it is stretched like that it was reaching for light but you can cut it short and propagate it if you would like it smaller!

    Very normal. They can grow quite large. I've had them in three feet tall when I lived in California

    It is an Aeonium. It is normal for them to grow tall like that over the years as they loose there lower leaves. If you want a plant that is closer to the soil, you can easily just chop it a few inches down from the rosette, let it callus over for a day, then plant it into a pot of soil. It will grow roots and look like a new plant. You can actually chop the long empty stalk into 6-10” pieces and propagate them the same way. They eventually will grow rosettes too! Also leave the rosette-less rooted part in soil and it will grow too. Presto. Now you have like 4-6 new plants. Fyi, that photo attached is actually a succulent flower, different from the rosette which is the plant itself. They usually only grow a flower about once a year. Also keep in mind Aeoniums go dormant in the summer, opposite of most plants.

    It’s reaching for the light. Needs to be in south facing window or under a grow light.
