Can anyone tell me what kind of succulent this is? And why it’s been dropping leaves. I’m no good with succulents and avoid buying them but this one was gifted to me.

Looks like some kind of echervia to me. As for why it’s dropping leaves, I have no idea. It does look like it’s been growing leggy though, which means it may not be getting enough sunlight.

Pull off the dead growth and put it in full Sun 6-8 hours a day or use a grow light. Should grow just fine, even leggy. If you want a cleaner look, cut the head off about an inch down the stem and replant in well draining soil. The old stem will propagate too. (Don’t have to do this!) Water no more than once a week, if the soil is dried out. Hope that helps!

1 j'aimeI agree with Red. The plant is stretching looking for light. I would behead it and let it callous over a couple days and stick in some new soil. And the next day thoroughly water it and then don’t water again until it is completely dry again. Drown and drought. Put it in a south or west facing window.
