Do you think this cactus is alive? I rescued it and it had a bunch of paddles fall off during the move and the soil was buggy. However, the Sabra fruit type appendage that survived turned red.

      Thanks! I was concerned bc a bunch of pieces fell off and it’s kind of white looking at the bottom

      Many cacti will develop a “woody” stem as they mature. Totally normal!

    Even what looks like ‘dead’ pads seem to regenerate. Here is a pick of one I have.
