Need advice! I have a dozen of these canisters left over from K9 scent-detection training. I’m curious if I add some drainage holes if these are OK to use to pot succulents (possibly propagating small succulents). I believe they’re aluminum and the sizes are in the photos. Any advice would be great - hate to waste these. Thanks.

I think those would be great especially because you’re adding drainage holes. One thing I would mention is making sure the drilled holes are wide enough to properly drain since you tend to want the succulents to dry out between waterings. These would also be great for propagating since it’s not too deep and it would be easier for the propagating plants to take root! I hope this helped!

Makenna thank you so much! This is just what I needed. Wasn’t sure if they would be too shallow but seemed ideal for propagating. I appreciate the response 🙏

I would also be cautious about rust. Maybe line with plastic(add holes)

Yes wonder for propagating succulents and planting little ones however make sure it’s not too wide for planting succulents because the could rot I’d stick with just propagation

They should be okay if you just clean them with a damp paper towel before use.

That was my mistake not making holes for drainage on the container and the succulent plant didn’t make it
