How does one repot one of these? They drop “leaves” if you look at them wrong. 😑

5 LikesThat's quite a specimen! I think I would take some of the longer pieces and propagate from them in several other pots before trying to transplant the big one. Can you put it on a pedestal and with the help of two other people lifting the plant pull the pot off the bottom? I suppose to do that you'd have to be able to remove the hangers. Or just propagate and don't repot. It will definitely be a challenge to repot.
5 LikesBeautiful plant!! They are very hard to replant. I usually end up cutting off some of the long ones and make new baskets out of them and then it's a little easier to repot the mama. I take all the pieces that drop off and place them in a tray with soil till they root then I can start some 2" Pots. This is sone that fell of mine. They are not doing much right now but come spring I will be able to start a new basket.
7 LikesWith longer repots I remove the hanger piece from the pot. And then lay newspaper down. Several layers. Then scoop my arm under one side to lift the left side up and lay it on the paper with the pot on its side. Fold the news paper partially over (so the two sides dont tangle). Then slowly fold over the rest, and fold the news paper up into a cone so its snug. You can tape it too if that helps. I've even taped down some bamboo stakes to the paper before hand, if I felt it needed support. You Then can repot either on its side, or hug the cone like your life depends on it!!! And repot vertically.
8 LikesAny string things I'll actually fold up in multiple parts since those dicks love to tangle
