This is my zebra haworthia. I repotted it yesterday after buying it from a store. I was wondering if I should water it? The soil is completely dry throughout, but I heard you have to wait a week before watering again, is this true?

If the soil is completely dry, Id wait only three days to water it. That will give the roots enough time to destress from the repotting

Hey there. That pot is too big for that guy. Any watering you do is going to be a problem for him. I suggest a smaller pot. My guy came in a 1” pot from H.D. and he was cramped. This is a 4” pot and he’s loving it. I only got him in the Spring.

Hey there. Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately this the only pot I have available. Will keeping it in this container stunt its growth? Im mindful not to overfill with water since the container is big.

You can put it temporarily in a tea cup. Or poke holes in a small take out container with an ice pick.

Hello, Sorry for the delayed reply to your question. Keeping most plants in pots too large will kill the plant, especially succulents/cactus, as the water rots them. I’ve been sick with a cold the past 4 days and just came out back to find one of my 4” pots broken due to the wind. An amaryllis bulb was in the pot and while not root bound it had a nice circle of roots on the bottom. But they like watered soil as long as it drains. Succulents hate wet soil. They want to be watered but they hate wet. Go figure. I’m going to look through my change jar to see if I can get a 4” pot or two. (I really need about four of them but maybe I’ll put the bulbs all into one large pot. John
