Trying to encourage Pearl to get fuller instead of longer. I had all the strands coiled up (see photo) for about 3 months. Uncoiled some strands today to check length and I don’t think any of them had started growing roots into the soil. Any advice?

To get a fuller plant you could try cutting off some of the longer stems and placing them in water till they get a good amount of roots then placing them back in the pot. For an easier approach you could also buy another string of pearls and just repot that one with your current one. Last thing you could try is to get a Bobby pin or paper clip and bend them so you put the stems closer to the soil to help them root better.

Completely agree with all of Melody’s suggestions. Only thing I wanted to add is that String of Pearls, like most string of things, have very shallow root systems, and perhaps removing any excess soil under the exposed roots when taking it out of its pot, then repotting it into a shallower pot will help it dry out faster between waterings and promote more growth over the top. Combining that with Melody’s suggestions should help you get a fuller plant within a few months 😊

Agree and agree and agree ^^ I saved mine last year and this was the difference in just one month. Today it’s overflowing with lots of full strings that extend down past the window sill it sits on.

Im really hoping mine survives! It appears to be rebounding but I almost lost it.
