Update: the plant is doing much better! After pulling it farther from and to the side of the window it started turning green within a day or two, and is now fully green on the main plant. (I also repotted the aloe to another pot and it’s doing better as well, and even has a baby chute!) I have also started watering less and wait for the soil to be fully dry before watering again. Thank you to everyone for your advice, it really helped! Updated pictures of both plants of both plants have been added to this post. Anyone know what kind of plant this is? I tried using google image search and it was saying aloe Vera, but it most likely is not. It also used to be green (like aloe), but didn’t have white spots or anything. Also does anyone know why it would have turned this color? It used to be a mid green color and now it’s dark red/purple/brown. For context this plant is in a lined wooden pot with an aloe Vera plant (the other plant pictured, and who is also not doing terribly great)

There are some species of succs that are variegated. They will often turn a reddish color when they get a lot of sun. I see plastic lining in your plant box. This makes me wonder if your plant box has any drainage. Succulents need to be in containers that allow drainage so that their roots don't rot. They don't need a lot of water.

I think this is likely the problem. The browning plant pictured looks like it has rotted from soil being kept too wet. If the leaves are soft and squishy, it’s rot.

I dug around and it’s definitely holding too much water in the pot/soil. I’m going to try and get a different pot for them, but for now just water more sparingly. Thank you for the suggestion!

I have a black gem aloe, and it looks exactly like this when I put it in a south facing window, but it turns green when I take it out of direct light.

It is facing south. I’ll try moving it out of the window and see if that helps at all. Thank you for the suggestion!
