Hi plant friends! I found this poor cactus (Planta says it’s an Eastern Prickly Pear) on the sidewalk and want to try to save it 😅 The blue looks like flowers? And the top right looks like new growth. I’m assuming it broke off the main plant and I’ll have to propagate to grow new roots. Any suggestions? I’m assuming the red circle is where roots would come from so I have root hormone I can put on there and put in water and fingers crossed roots grow?

if you laid that on top of soil exactly as it is it might send roots out from where you circled but more likely from every other “joint” between paddles. only way to mess this up is to over water — cool find! good luck

I didn’t know about laying it on top of the soil. Thank you for the tip!

I’ll have to find a wide enough pot to lay it out on.. and assuming a shallow pot would be best, so there’s not too much soil to hold water?
