Can anyone tell me what kind of plant this is? I was given it as a gift a few years ago, but I’m struggling to find care instructions.

It’s a Jade plant ‘variegata’. So it’s a succulent, which means drown it with direct full sun and water it every 2 weeks. Also make sure no water gets on the leaves and they like low humidity.

Also they can live for a hundred years and become trees.

And I completely agree that you’ve got yourself a variegated jade plant. They make great houseplants, especially for anyone new to the hobby 😊 as a heads up, though, the variegated version can be a bit more finicky that the known-to-be-hardy jade, so don’t stress if it gives you some trouble. I keep mine in a south facing windowsill and wait 18 days before watering it in October. The real key with it is that the variegated variety needs a little more time than the average jade to dry out, about three days more. Here’s the ID for your jade. https://links.getplanta.com/cxd6 Check out Jade Plant and its care instructions in the Planta app.

Love the creativity with using an old tomato can as a pot it gives your jade plant ‘variegata’ a lot of charm and an appealing to look at house plant.

Thanks! The can is actually a pot cover. Mr. Cento (the can. Yes, I named him. He’s been a houseplant pot cover for about 10 years now 😂) is currently giving my trailing jade a little more height to protect her trailing leaves from touching the base of the windowsill. Pro tip if you ever wanna use one yourself: sand the rim of the can down 😊
