Hi guys, I bought this cactus from Home Depot last night and I was wondering if I should take the decorative flower off? Will it harm my plant’s growth to keep it? If I should remove, how should I do so without damaging the plant? It’s glued on from what I can tell

If it’s a real flower then you should leave it

      It’s not, it’s fake

If it’s fake then you most likely can remove it I don’t see any problem with that.

I have no clue why they put them on there. People should want cacti because they’re unique and different! Not cause they’re pretty flowering plants. Which they are. But I think they’re just cool!

I have always wanted a cactus because I like how they look and I also have a false holiday cactus

I had one of these on my cactus and I just gently pulled it off, it did pull a few spikes off but it didn’t harm the plant at all :)

Okay thank you so much. I’ll go ahead and try to do so once I’m home

I’m always annoyed when I see those fake flowers on cacti. Definitely take it off!

Okay I will once I get home. I have never seen one with a fake flower before but I was at Home Depot with the husband getting tools for work. I seen it and I was like “I want it,” once I got home I was trying to figure out how to take it off or if it was necessary to do so.

Not a decoration! It’s a “handling device” to save you from getting poked during repotting! But they come off easy enough with a q-tip and a touch of rubbing alcohol.

Okay thank you, do you know if it will cause any issues to my cactus? Like drowning problems or anything?
