I could use some help please! From reading up on it, I think my snake plant needs more light since it’s growing upwards but not getting any bushier. I was thinking of repotting it into the terra cotta pot in the picture. I’m afraid they might start tipping over but I also don’t want to lose it by cutting them down because it’s from my son’s beach wedding a few years ago. Any suggestions on how to handle this properly?

It looks like a normal happy Laurentii. They grow new shoots from under ground. That’s how they get bushier.

I add rocks to the pot to help with topping over if necessary.

Oh great! Thank you!! I’ll add some rocks just to be on the safe side 😊

I personally would take it out of the self watering pot and put it in terracotta which will add weight so that it doesn't tip over. Rocks only harbor moisture which can lead to rot. 😊🪴

Yes, it definitely needs a heavier pot to support it ! I appreciate the advice 😊

I agree, a heavier pot will help. I would also suggest a larger pot than what you have pictured (just one size up, I’d say). I it will give more space for the plant to get bushier. I always check my root systems to see if they are filling the pot; if I can see roots at the edges or they are starting to spiral, definitely upsize the pot. At the risk of over explaining: if the roots are spiraling around the pot, or have grown to the shape of the pot, be sure to gently separate/break apart that shape when you repot so that the plant knows its roots can expand in a different direction/shape. (p.s. your Snake Plant is gorgeous!)

Thanks so much! Now’s a great time to repot it so I’m excited to see how it does !
