This is Lofty Iāve had him 6 years. He flowers at least once a year. But a friend told me they only flower when they are stressed and he needs repotting. Is that correct? If this is correct as Lofty is already over 3 foot tall and rather heavy and big is there a way I can thin out the stems without harming him and avoid the need to repot?
Snake plants tend to bloom when they have reached theyāre root bound. This is technically āstressā but some plants donāt mind being root bound to a certain degree. I would say if you havenāt repotted it in the last 2-3 years itās probably time. More so for a soil refresh than anything else. You could prune the plant and the roots to keep it in the same pot but Iād recommend just going up a pot size.

snake plants bloom when theyāre really thriving though, too! lots of light, proper watering, older plants are all good for encouraging blooms ā could be that youāre doing everything right and this is a thank you š
