I have a Copper King I love and wanted more. Just received these in the mail. Anyone know what these black things are? Never had them on mine.

    I found those on mine. I thought they were shriveled up flowers, so i pulled them off with tweezers. He dies shortly after. Not sure if thats correlated, but they might be flowers, might be signs of disease, but I would get another opinion.

      Ok, so someone told me that they were the flower remains of flowers not fertilized to produce seed pods. That explains them being at the base I guess.

    Looks like it might just be soil stuck between the spikes. It's common for that to happen during repotting

      I thought that but when I took a toothpick to try to get it out, it was definitely attached and left a hole in the cactus. Really weird. Can’t get the seller to respond to me yet.
