Hi everyone! I was recently given what I believe to be a Prickly Pear Cactus to look after for a few months but it’s in really rough shape and I’m unsure the best course of action. Anyone have any suggestions? I don’t know if it’s under watered or why it’s so discolored. Thanks!

Are the bottom pads soft? My Opuntia johnsonii was looking really gnarly (top of pic) so I cut the top pads and re-homed them. I might do the same with yours since you have growth on there.

Hey Dave! The bottom pads aren’t soft and the whole plant overall feels firm actually so I don’t think it’s overwatered.

I’m wondering the same as Dave. If any parts are squishy there’s nothing to be done but to pop off the new growth at the top and start fresh
