Weird find on my Zz today…. It’s got these weird rings on a few of its stems. Def not pests, I thoughly checked him and the surrounding others. I did put it on a lower shelf recently but it didn’t get banged or damaged that way I’m sure. Anyone seen this? They feel slightly raised.

I’ve seen this when plants grow quickly and the outer, thicker skin doesn’t have time to adjust. Like stretch marks! If the plant doesn’t show any other signs of pests or wound healing, I would lean towards this
3 likes No other signs of pests, no wounds that I can see. And there are other stems on either side of this one that has marks that don’t have marks on them that are also on the outer side/edges of the plant that would of gotten wounded if I’d whacked him off the shelf while moving. If I recall correctly these are the newer stems he grew this summer so maybe you’re right. I never knew plants could get stretch marks!!! They’re so perfectly straight and even it’s super odd!
1 like They are definitely strange! I’ve only had it happen to a few of my plants, and it was scary the first time since I couldn’t figure out what was happening!😂

1 like I struggle soooo hard with ZZs so mine isn’t a favorite 😅 no matter what I do it’s unhappy lol. Yours looks to be THRIVING !!
1 like Oh that’s too bad! I just ignore mine so I guess they like the neglect. lol. He put out 5 or 6 new stems this summer so I guess he’s really enjoying the neglect!!!
