Hello! I purchased and repotted all of these plants in the past 24 hours. I am a beginner and know little to nothing about taking care of plants😅 I bought this app to help. All plants were thoughtfully picked out because they are cat-friendly. All pots have drainage holes in the bottom. I used some organic potting soil that I found at Wholefoods. Should I water them or do anything else? These are all currently in my living room which has a TON of west and north facing windows. Any advice would be appreciated!đŸ„°đŸȘŽ

    Looks great ! Just be sure to only use this apps notifs as a reminder to check if you need to water instead of watering right when they tell you . Like the Hoya likes to dry out , but Planta may give a notif when it’s only 50% dry. Just be wary with that, I hope u a happy plant journey !

    For watering, all of these except the palm should completely dry out. For the palm, I would wait for the soil to be 50% dry. My favorite way to check is to stick a wooden skewer or chopstick in the pot, leave it there for a minute, and if it comes out clean and dry, I water.

    Also, one of the main killers of new plant parents is overwatering. In order to avoid overwatering, wait for the plant to be appropriately dry, then DRENCH THAT THANG. I like to put mine in a shower or sink and let water run until it is flowing out of the drainage holes, just to make sure all soil is saturated. It will release any extra water it doesn’t want. Overwatering doesn’t come from drowning it when it is appropriately dry, it comes from watering it too often with too little water. AKA overwatering = too frequent + not enough. Good watering = drown it when it needs it. Look up the watering preferences to tell if a plant likes to get a little dryer between watering! 😁

      This is seriously so helpful. I never thought about overwatering like that
 and I definitely would’ve fallen victim to too frequent + not enough if it weren’t for this message đŸ«Ł
