I’ve got some new plants for my room 1. Variegated white princess philodendron 2. pink princess philodendron 3. Aglaonema siam aurora Any soil, lighting, and watering tips would be very much appreciated as these are my first variegated plants. I am completely in the dark about how to take care of the siam aurora (Chinese evergreen) and I’m in love with it.
My advice is for the Aglaonema. I had a different variety. Her name was Terry (I say had, not cause she died, but cause I had to give her away on account of my very curious dog 🐶), and what I found when I had her is that they tend to thrive on neglect. I bought her from a nursery, and she came in all-purpose potting soil with added perlite and a few slow-release fertilizer pellets sprinkled on the top of the soil. I placed her in the windowsill of my north window, watered her when her soil completely dried out (note: I bottom watered mine and she seemed to love that), and she kept giving new leaf after new leaf. I was really sad to see her go, cause she was one of the easiest plants I’ve ever cared for, but she’s hanging out with all my cousin’s plants now, so she’s in good hands. So in short, give yours a good chunky soil mix with plenty of drainage, bottom water it, mine tolerated Osmocote slow release fertilizer pellets, but don’t go overboard with them, and give it plenty of bright, indirect light (like I said, mine liked the north windowsill, not just being near a window. Kept a good balance of light without it being so bright that it burned her leaves. The brown tip on the leaf was there when I bought her. Once I bought her, I never saw another brown leaf again.)
