First time having a philodendron and I want to transfer it to soil. Any tips on how I should do this without shocking her?

    From what Iā€™ve read on transferring water propagations to soil, you can prepare a pot full of a well-draining soil mix, thoroughly soak soil, to the point that it becomes a soupy consistency, then gently place the plant into the soil mixture, and allow the pot to drain out in a sink overnight. I would recommend a rooting powder, but since the roots and soil will be wet during the transfer process, it would just wash off. If thereā€™s a liquid rooting hormone you could find, that should also help with shock. Hope this helps.

      No problem! Another option could be a hydroponic transplant with some leca, but I donā€™t have experience with that, so if youā€™re interested in trying that, Iā€™d chat up the folks in the hydroponics group here šŸ˜Š

      I did this w my coleus about a week or two ago and so far so good!

    Depending on the plantā€™s ā€œdramaticsā€, I will either bite the bullet and go straight to soil (with watering like a usual transplant) or do the above like Adrian said.

    I donā€™t find philo to be picky when it comes to planting directly into soil even after sitting in water for a long time.
