I live in Wisconsin and been wanting to order a pink variant zz plant from Etsy. But the store is overseas. Super nervous that it wouldn't survive the travel to me. Any thoughts or feelings on pulling the trigger?

    I donā€™t know much about the pink kind of ZZ plants, but if itā€™s cheap or you can afford putting money into a plant that might die from the trauma of the travel, then go for it! Otherwise, have you found any pink zz plants available in the states? I ordered one of my plants to be shipped to my door in a box from across the country and it survived well (and thrived) because it was packaged with care and skill by the shop I bought it from, who cares a lot about plant quality and customer service. Maybe make sure the shop youā€™re buying from has a guarantee or describes how they ship their plants

    Be cautious ordering from shops overseas. It has not gone well for me. My experience has been they take your order and your money. They give you a fake shipping date (untrackable btw) and then while Iā€™ve waited for what Iā€™ve paid for the shop closes.

    I wouldnā€™t take that risk - find one sold by a seller in the US, thereā€™s always a risk buying plants online but it stands a better chance of making it to you alive. Do you other ZZ plants? Maybe check out the Super Nova or Raven ZZ varieties, not nearly the cost of the pink variant and they have beautiful green to black leaves

      I have a raven, supernova and a regular zz. I jist love this plant and I want another style. I found a chameleon zz but it looked pretty sad at the store and might go get it

      Itā€™s my favorite plant!! You definitely should go back and rescue the chameleon ZZ

    Have you done much research into this variant? A quick google / Reddit search and it seems that this is a chemically induced change and/ or scam by overseas sellers.

      From what i have seen, pink ZZs can be real, real with image editing, or chemically altered. For reference, the real ones tend to be very dark and/or very expensive. For reference, here are pictures, top is a real pink variegation that's as bright as you could hope for that costs over a thousand dollars, and bottom is one that's been changed chemically. If it's inexpensive and shows real patterning, it's likely a variety where the pink is almost black, edited to look brighter.

      Also when the pink is real, it has a definite orangey tone to it; it's more salmon than true pink

    Iā€™ve never heard of a pink one! Maybe see if a local plant store would source it for you.
