Hello, I am new to gardening, and this group… is there any useful tips for growing these plants? 1. Peppermint 2. Sun Sugar Yellow Tomato 3. Lemon Thyme 3. Sweet Basil 4. Flowers (unknown species) 5. 3 kinds of Strawberries 6. Italian Oregano 7. Carolina Reaper 8. Rosemary 9. Heirloom Roma Tomato Thank you!
For any plants that produce fruit, vegetables, or even herbs, they need a lot of sunlight, roughly 6-8+ hours of direct sun a day, so make sure to have a very sunny spot for all of those. Anything that produces fruit/vegetables also need quite a lot of water since it takes a lot of energy for the plant to produce fruit/veggies. Herbs don’t need quite as much water but they do dry out more quickly than most plants. Make sure to check the soil rather than going by the Planta reminders - the app tends to tell us to water a little too often. I recommend using a moisture meter if you don’t already have one.

좋아요 1개I was recommended to purchase a moisture meter. I already have one, but I am not entirely sure how to use it. My meter has a scale from 1 to 10, where 1-3 indicates “Dry,” 4-7 indicates “Moist,” and 8-10 indicates “Wet.” Are “Dry” and “Wet” always undesirable, or does the optimal level vary depending on the type of plant I am caring for? For instance, I believe rosemary prefers to dry out slightly between waterings. Should I water it until the meter reads “Moist,” then check periodically until it reaches “Dry,” and then water again? Conversely, for a tomato plant, which I believe requires more consistent moisture, should the soil always read “Moist” when I check it? Thanks in advance.
