I have been experimenting with putting a 1/2 inch layer of sphagnum moss at the very bottom of some of my indoor potted plants, beneath the soil. I did it for my Peace Lily, since I know they have high watering needs, but also tried it with a Philodendron Pluto, and have had success with that as well. Just a little bit of help with retaining moisture that may want to seep out the bottom. I also bottom water pretty much exclusively. Maybe give it a shot for those plants that you don’t want to water as often as they demand 👀👀

Keep us updated as I am personally concerned on this. Usually, the bottom of the pot is the part that remains the most humid. I’d be concerned by root rot as the moss breaks down and remains constantly humid/wet. Additionally, the breakdown would create an anaerobic environment which is what can favor bacteria and fungal issues.
