Help! I got a pink ficus a few weeks ago and I think she is dying. I tried top watering first and then bottom watering, but the top soil seems dry still. She has quite a few leaves that are browning, but has sprouted some new ones. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Well that’s not a pink ficus. It’s a ficus elastica tineke. Mere looking/observing the soil doesn’t tell you much about saturation levels. Definitely stick a finger in there or a skewer and test the soil that way. The browning the way it is makes me concerned about the root condition… personally I would pull her out of the pot and give the roots a good once over. Check for rot. You’ll smell it and feel it. Anything mushy is no good snip it off. Spray with a peroxide/water solution to sanitize and repot. Pot should only be 1-2 in bigger than the rootball size to prevent rot. Hope this helps!

What she said 👆🏻. Plus, my personal preference is to get rid of those attached saucers. The water really can’t drain properly and you can’t tell if there’s water sitting in the saucer. I think she needs better drainage.
