Hello, I’m a rookie with plant care and thinking of moving my monstera adansonii from its nursery pot to water. Do I simply clean the roots and pop it in water. Does anyone have any nuggets of wisdom? I could also use fish tank water if she would like that better? X
No matter how you end up doing it don’t be discouraged when the plant goes through “shock” similar to some plants getting repotted after being root bound the plant may look really sad like it’s dying but if the roots aren’t rotten it should bounce back :) hope you get additional tips on the transition!

I feel like, when making propagations and transferring plans from different places, there are two different types of roots that plants create whenever they are in different environments. Soil roots are meant for soil. Water roots are meant for water or wet areas. If you take the plant and just put it in water, it will DEFINITELY have a hard time. I suggest watching videos on how to make propagations and then try once and see how it reacts. As your propagation grows, put some slow release fertilizer pellets in there, and it will definitely have fun. however, overtime, you can technically help the plant adjust. You can try transferring it to “pon” giving it less water at first and then transferring to more water at a time. Hard to describe here so I suggest watching YouTube videos about it. however remember what I said about soil roots and water roots. Plants are very picky. don’t transfer too quickly or else you risk the plant’s life.
