Anyone have tips for what to do when you’re gone on vacation? In the past I’ve had roommates or someone stop by, but I’m in a new city and don’t know anyone well enough to trust them in my place. I have about 24 plants of various types and sizes. I do have some of those bulbs that you stick in the soil, but I’m not a huge fan. I’ve also considered just drenching them the morning I leave and hope for the best. Help! *photo for attention
I should preface that I almost certainly know far less about plants than you do (by the way your plants are gorgeous) but I usually just drench them before if it’s anything under 2 weeks, most of your plants seem like pretty drought resistant plants, so you’ll probably be fine, at most a few fallen leaves that’ll heal in a few weeks after you get back if you watch them closely. Don’t sweat it though unless you’ve got any really thirsty plants
2件のいいねThank you so much for the compliment!! This app really helps me stay on top of their care. I’m mostly concerned about my little guys like the polka dot begonia and wendlandii. And we are entering the “surface of the sun” season here in AZ so it makes conditions worse. I do keep the drapes drawn during this season and primarily use grow lights, but the little guys still get thirsty in their baby pots.

the only one I’d be most nervous about is what looks like your adansonii. maaaybe a layer of damp sphagnum moss over that one after watering before you go?
いいね 1件Yeah. That monkey mask is dramatic. I’m also concerned about my 2” polka dot begonia, 3” wendlandii, and my 3” pink princess. Hard to see in that photo. But they are all babies and it’s the season where they dry out quicker than normal. I like the idea of the moss. Someone else mentioned in another group that I could also put a bag over them to help contain moisture. I may test it out on a shorter trip I’m taking next month before my longer trip later in the year. Thank you!
