I bought Jessie on Monday on clearance for 50% off ($8). It's my 1st Aglaonema. She is bone dry! Has 3 new leaves coming out. A new stalk? (Is that what is called?) coming out of the soil, along with many roots. Question is, should she be repotted with new soil now vs putting more soil over to cover the roots vs waiting until spring? Should I water it and repot after the leaves open up? So many questions? What do you guys think for this scenario? Thanks in advance! Also what is WG in the name stand for?

    I’d pull it out of the pot and check the bottom roots. If they haven’t reached the bottom just add more soil to the top. If it’s fairly root bound I’d repot. Then definitely water her!

    I usually repot in my own mix after they acclimate for a few days. Mainly because a lot are just in plain potting soil, but also a lot are carrying pests or pest eggs. Depending on the place they could be root bound. But it wouldn't hurt to leave her till spring and top her off after checking her root situation. .

      That was the other thing, my husband said to wait till it works get acclimated... oh, and do woot know what those 2 letters stand for??

      I am not sure, WG is not any botany nomenclature I'm familiar with. I have seen initials added to names as they are the person to produce the cultivar, but that's the only thing I can think of. The only words I could come up with were Wild Genome, Wild Grown... but generally those are just referereferred to as Wild type, which this is a cultivar so doesn't makes sense
