I put my 🐊 fern in a terracotta pot… now it’s growing mold??? was this a bad decision? Any other recommendations for pot? - ok ferns like humidity and i’ve been putting in the bathroom when I shower… maybe i just wasn’t giving it time to dry… i put it outside for the time being
Definitely mold is a sign of too much moisture. Hopefully an indirect sun drying will get it right back on point keep me posted..

It’s hard for me to tell if it’s the same thing. But, my terracotta pots will eventually start accumulating suspect looking white stuff on the outside; it is mineral build up from the water & substrate. It wipes off easily and takes a little while to come back. Maybe that’s what’s happening to yours as well?

Mold is not usually a big problem! Happens frequently to my plants and I just pull it right off and forget about it.

Not necessarily bad, it just indicates there was mold spores on the pot, and the humidity is allowing them to grow. Spritz the pot and top soil with 1:3 peroxide dilution or a fungicide.

0 Mi piaceIf you want you could try growing moss and lichens on the pot. They enjoy moisture, they can out-compete the mold, and you'd get tiny bonus plants. Otherwise, treating the exterior of the pot with a basic fungicide can prevent future mold growth
