   Balanced is used for orchids (though it's diluted a lot for them)

   I think the fertilizer you choose depends so much on the rest of your care routine. Semi-hydro would require a different choice from chunky potting media, worm castings or compost would add nutrients and so might influence fertilizer choice... At the end of the day, if you're using a dilute solution and occasionally flush your pots with plain water, I don't see 10-10-10 being a problem. At the same time, my personal choice is to keep a small variety of fertilizers on hand to accommodate different types of plants and growing media. I can do that, as I do not have young children and I work from home. I don't think my routine would suit everyone's lifestyle. I guess what I'm really saying is, if something works for you and your lifestyle, it does not matter what someone on the internet says.
