Hey hey! I stole this baby spider plant…. Am i incubating correctly? The middle leaves have grown but there are two lower leaves shriving up 1 pic: new growth, dying leaves 2: initial potting

    I always start my babies in water to ensure the roots are growing healthy. How long have you had it in soil?

      I found this is a great method to use; like Haley said, you can make sure that the roots are substantial before transplanting. But, it helps you judge and pick out the perfectly sized pot for a tighter root ball without being completely restrictive.

    Is that the original nursery pot? If not, you might want to try moving it to a smaller pot. Spider plants prefer a more constricted root ball.

    Definitely needs a smaller pot. I much prefer soil propagation, so I have one about that size and it’s in a little 2” nursery pot where it will stay at least until I see large roots coming out of the drainage holes.

      Do you prefer terracotta pots, or plastic

      For most plants like a spider plant, plastic is fine, but I use clay pots for succulents and other plants that like to dry out.
