Jus got this beautiful blue orchid as a wedding present 🥹 any tips on how to maintain a healthy orchid? I’ve never had one last longer then a week and I really want to kee this baby alive!!!

tree muncher 27 ★If the tag on it says to give it ice cubes, ignore that. Ice can shock the plant’s roots. Water when the substrate is dry with warm (not hot) water. The blooms will probably die off in a few weeks. This is normal. If you care for it well, it will grow new flowers, although they will not be blue because I suspect the flowers are dyed. Orchids appreciate bright indirect light, meaning it needs to be in a bright window without sun rays directly touching its leaves. Hope this helps :)

Women are WaterI was wondering if the blue was natural or not. It’s very special if it is as I read somewhere that the color blue is rare in nature. Don’t know how true that is but my fingers are crossed for you. Good luck!

MulleinI think they’re white orchids turned blue from dye. I haven’t tried it with an orchid myself, but flowers like carnations can be turned any color by adding food coloring to the water of the cut flowers. I’m not sure how it works with flowers still on the plants 🤔 Now I’ll have to look into it 😂

Michelle’s HobbyNope, not naturally blue. They injected blue dye into the stem and when it’s watered the dye goes into the flower. It will be white when it blooms again. If you want a blue orchid try the blue Vanda orchid. The closest blue orchid. Good luck!
