Can someone please help me with these plants? 😠I’ve had them since March, no growth at all. My Alocasia Black Velvet is so sad. I took her out of her pot last week and found a plug. I ended up cutting it off but it keeps looking worse. The one leaf is thriving. Do I just cut the other one off or hope for the best? Next is my string of turtles. She will NOT grow no matter what I try. She also looks sad. I don’t know how to get her to grow 🥲
How often are you watering these guys? And what kind of lighting are they getting?
0 Mi piacei water the string of turtles about every 2 weeks and the alocasia usually once a week. they’re both in bright indirect light
0 Mi piace They’re both being watered too often, alocasias like a chunky soil mix and they like to dry out between waterings. As for the SoT they are similar to succulents, they store water in leaves so even if the soil is dry you don’t have to water right away.

Black velvet alocasias will naturally shed their older leaves to make growth for better, larger, and much more fresh leaves. I would be concerned if both leaves showed signs of shedding but if that one leaf is doing its thing it should be fine. I have mine in the window she gets direct to bright indirect lighting. She has one leaf and is pushing out a few more. I would repot mine in a clear nursery pot just to micro manage those roots because they are prone to root rot, and have it in a well draining CHUNKY mix. other than that it looks fine.
