hey, so i’m trying to be a better plant mom and i have this peace lily (irene) that’s not doing the best. i don’t know much about taking care of any plant, so if anyone has advice for me i will very much appreciate it. i know i’m probably doing everything wrong so pls go easy on me lol 🫠
one thing about peace lilly’s is they’re dramatic as all hell. first i would recommend repotting your plant into some airy soil mix. only water when the soil is dry, leave lilly’s will usually let you know when they’re thirsty cause their leaves start to droop. also cut all the dead leaves off so the plant isn’t using its energy on them. you got this !!

0 Mi piaceFor airy soil mix can you use a orchid mix or does it need to be mixed with regular potting soil? My peace lily has been on the struggle bus for a while.
0 Mi piace I doubt they want a soil as airy as orchid soil. After doing some research I believe that they meant something like aroid soil :) Hope that helps!!

0 Mi piaceI finally had luck getting one to bloom this year. I agree to cut off all the bad stuff. Bright indirect light. But I try to keep mine pretty moist. Water thoroughly when the top inch or two of soil is dry
Okay good to know!! I’ve been watering once i notice the leaves starting to drop a bit, but perhaps I shouldn’t even let it get to that point 😅

1 mi piaceI use handy dandy wood skewers to check soil. Stick it in about 2”. If soil clings to it, it’s still moist. If not, it’s dry and ok to water
