Hi I’m a new succulent owner, I wanted to replant this little succulent and was wondering if this pot is too big for the little succulent? I don’t have another smaller pot, the clay one is the smallest I have 😔 I just bought it so I’ll wait a month before I do anything but when I do I just don’t want this clay pot to be bad for the plant since it could be too big😟😟
A good rule of thumb for repotting is you should get a pot that is about the same size as the roots. This way, it can help you to avoid root rot. Imo the pot is a little too big. You can help with drainage by adding some pebbles to the soil and more soil to the pot. Try not to overwater it. Good luck.

Yes, definitely looks too big, sorry! The soil would stay too wet for a long time.
1 mi piaceOnly go up one pot size when repotting. The plant you have looks like a 2 inch so you would want to repot it in a 4 inch pot. The pot you have now looks like a 6 inch so it’s slightly too big.

I agree with everyone else. It would be years before it would need a pot this size. They have smaller root systems than the plant usually. I have gotten these on amazon for a good price, worked well, and packaged well so not broken on arrival. It’s 20 of the 3” terracotta pots if you have a few plants that can use them. $25 so $1.25 a pot!
Wow thank you for the Amazon suggestion!!! I’ll definitely get a little three inch pot, I’ve heard that they don’t live long but I’ve also heard they live 5-10 years so I hope I can help keep it alive
