Hi everyone! Got this drosera spatulata back at the start of January and she’s not been doing great under my care. Was wondering if anybody might know what’s missing to get em back in good health? Care conditions: I’ve had it under a timed grow light for 12h everyday, initially around 4” away but move it 5.5” away in fear of burning the plant. Room humidity is consistently around 45%. Always refilled water tray until half with distilled water. I top watered last week because it seemed to have had humic acid build up (black crown and tips of leaves). It’s away from any heaters or air conditioners. Despite all this my mind is boggled as to what this seemingly easy plant needs

Got these pings about 6 months ago. First time having them. They seem happy enough 🤷🏼♀️ The top left one was the size of an eraser, but grew more tall than wide and couldn’t stay up. I added the emotional support toothpick a few days ago and it seems to have helped. Any suggestions/if you see any care issues, please comment!

New to plants and my first one is a not-so-beginner-friendly Venus flytrap 😅. I got it in early February and repotted it about a week later. Now I have only one green trap. The rhizome is still completely white and firm, so it’s not rotting. I also have used only distilled water. Maybe sunlight/temperature is the issue? It is still quite cold where I live, about 30°F average daily temperature. Although we’re finally entering Spring season. Any theories on what happened or advice on how to care for this plant?

Hello all! I’m new to the group as of (checks watch) 39 seconds ago. I went back to my local nursery on payday to grab a sweet looking monkey pitcher plant I had been eyeballing and the worker said “I’m so mad at myself. I forgot to water, but I’ll give it to you for half off.” I thought about it, but I’m new to carnivorous plants, they need special water, no fertilizer, very specific conditions, and was worried about buying a plant that’s already half-dead looking. So they had this smaller one that was pretty similar looking but only labeled nepenthes, and it looked a lot healthier. I’m bummed but I wanted a new friend to hopefully help with little gnats. I googled the photo and it said this was a “nepenthes x ventrata” variety. I’m in Washington, I have 5 pets, and a drafty or hot 126 year old house depending on the season. It has to go in my kitty-free-room, and I struggle with heating and cooling. I thought about the more humid bathroom but the door closes more of the day than not to keep the tropical divas happier. But I went ahead and bought a small space heater and humidifier. I have Harold (😂) hanging near my window, with a sheer curtain between. The heater is set to 65°, but it was at 40° in my room before - so an improvement. Come summer I’ll have to break out the A/C unit but I can likely set that to 65° too. 🤣 I did give it a good watering as it looked dry as a bone. The nursery said it was potted with moss etc. so that should be good. I kept it in that pot, with a little plastic catcher underneath. With that background: 1) Is that species identification correct? 2) Any advice is appreciated. I did some googling but I like to talk to real people. 3) Google said: - Not to cut off the pitchers unless they were completely black or brown, but you can see the tops are brown and crispy. So …. Is it still catching bugs, or no? - That you can fill the pitchers with distilled water, but I don’t know if I’m supposed to do that? Or how dire it needs to be before I do. - That it’s a pretty easy plant to care for, just let it be and keep it moist ish and the right humidity. Is a humidifier underneath and my space heater enough? Thanks all!

Just re-potted this guy as he grew to big and his roots where growing out of his old pot. For whatever reason he decided dormancy was for sundew only.

Hello! My fiancé’s nepenthes is growing quite oddly - it’s producing new pitchers very slowly, most of the ones it did have browned fully so we pruned them, and it seems to be only focused on climbing to the point we had to give it support. We only used distilled water, no fertilizer, and when it had more pitchers we would give it one of my lizard’s mealworms maybe every 1-2 months. Is this normal? What else can we do to help her? First an only carnivorous plant we own and I want to make sure I’m doing right by it. Thank you for any help!!

My Venus Flytrap of three years died last week, or that’s what I thought. I was really busy and forgot poor Pete. I came home to notice his soil bone try and every single trap completely black with mold. I dug down and found the rhizome brown as well. Not a singe speck of green was visible. I was planning to throw him out but hadn’t got to it yet when my brother noticed a tiny sprout a week later. I immediately trimmed all of the dead leaves off and another spout appeared a few days later. It’s like a miracle! I can’t believe the resilience of this little guy!
