   hi! here are some tips! soil: VFTs are bog plants, so they like to stay in a constantly moist medium! most people use sphagnum moss with a mix of perlite. there are also carnivourus mixes you can buy at the store. water: for watering, make sure to use use rain, reverse osmosis, or distilled water! any minerals, fertilizer or harsh chemicals will burn the leaves and can kill your plant in the long run. i have my carnivourus plant in a nursery pot sitting in a catch tray that holds a few inches of water. top off or refill the when needed! light: VFTs actually like a lot more light than most people think! they like 6-8 hours of DIRECT light a day. it will still be able to live in lower lighting conditions, but it wont have as much red in the traps, and growth will be slower. if you cant get direct light for that amount of time, you can invest in a grow light if you wish! feeding: if you are keeping it inside, you are going to want to manually feed your VFT once to twice a month. pick one trap (if you have a single plant), and that one trap will feed the entire plant until its next meal! the best things you can feed are any live bug that comfortably fits in the trap! you can get these at grocery stores, or any pet store that sells live insects for reptiles! meal worms keep the longest in the fridge, and enter a dormant stage in colder temps so you dont have to worry about doing anything for them. dormancy: during winter, a lot of (if not all) carnivorous plants go into dormancy, and you can find some great informative vids on youtube when that season rolls around. good luck, and i hope this helps!
