Hello everyone! I'm planning on getting a pitcher plant or two, I'm thinking one will be a hanging and another will be a trumpet. Since it's finally starting to warm up where I live, it's the perfect time for me to get my first carnivorous, but I'm curious about the care, any tips?
A really basic tip, but just be sure to keep their soil moist with distilled or very low tds water only. Also they love light, a bit more than the average houseplant.

Be careful with too much light though with a lowland Nepenthes! lowland Nepenthes need high heat and humidity, and usually reside in low valleys in a tropical environment, so if it gets too much direct sun the leaves and pitchers can scorch very quickly. Highland Neps can tolerate lower humidity and cooler nights, so make sure to match as closely as possible unless you plan to acclimate them.

Substrate: sphagnum moss and you can add perlite if you want (make sure it’s organic, no additives). Fertilizer: no need to fertilize! These little guys get all their nutrients from the bugs they eat. Watering: water thoroughly, carnivorous plants like to be wet. Use reverse osmosis, rainwater, or distilled water. Humidity: you want high humidity, at least 65%. When you get it, the current pitchers are most likely to turn brown or start turning brown within the month. This is completely normal, and every new leaf has a chance to make a new pitcher. I recommend a place like Carnivero, The Great Outdoors, or Sweet Leaf. Depending on the size of the pitchers, you can use almost any food for them, from flies you smack in your own home (I feed my Nepenthes with whatever bug I find in my house), to the mealworms at Petsmart. You can fill up the pitchers with water (make sure it’s distilled or rainwater), and this will speed up the process because then the pitcher just needs to add the enzymes that break down the victims that fall for the trap.
