I repotted my pitcher plant using carnivorous plant soil. Was that okay to do? Also, I have it in a north facing window. It’s been there about a month and has been doing fairly well. I just feel bummed that I haven’t seen any new pitchers since I first bought it. Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
The best I’ve found is they do enjoy bright light and high levels of humidity to produce pitchers. I have them very close to a grow light and after I put them into a little grow cabinet with over 70% humidity, I got much larger pitchers. Mine pitchered for me before I moved into the cabinet but they were near a humidifier at about 60% humidity.
0件のいいね Thanks for the suggestions! I have it in my bathroom, so it is pretty high humidity, or at least in the mornings when we shower. However, it is a north facing window. If I move it to a different room, I am unable to give it the humidity that it needs. Not sure if sun is more valuable or humidity…

Sun is more important than humidity. But fixing the substrate and making sure the water is 70 or less TDS are equally important right now.
0件のいいね “Carnivorous plant soil” is probably bog plant soil, peat moss and perlite and maybe sand. That is not the correct substrate for nepenthes. They are epiphytic like orchids and do best in 50/59 long fiber spagnum moss and perlite. Nepenthes need about 10 hours bright light and 4 of those hours should be direct light. I would suggest a grow light if you’re not seeing pitcher growth. Full spectrum not LED. Change the substrate or you will likely see root rot. Keep the LFS/perlite the dampness of a wrung out washcloth. If you’re using anything other than rain water, or RO water you will not see pitchers either. It’s very important that the water is less that 70 TDS and the light is strong to see pitchers. They can adapt to ambient humidity so long as light/water/substrate are appropriate. いいね 1件 What do you mean exactly by the “50/59” long fiber sphagnum moss and perlite? Or did you mean 50/50? Also, where do you normally buy sphagnum moss and perlite?
0件のいいね Yes I did mean 50/50. Long fiber spagnum moss can be purchased on Amazon. Plain perlite can also be purchased on Amazon. I have seen both at Home Depot and Lowe’s.
