Hey all, carnivorous newbie trying to rescue this 1” napenthes! I trimmed 3 dead pitchers, but the only one that had looked good has now died too :( Even so, new leaves are growing. I have her in this “terrarium” to try to keep her humid, is this okay? What else should I do?
these don’t want to sit in water like a VFT — humidity is good, poor soil is good (mine is in sphag moss in a glass orb) just keep the media moist
0개 좋아요Is there a way to keep moist besides a tray of water like this? Maybe a tray of water not touching the pot, in a cloche? How do you tell the difference between too moist and too dry with napenthes?

I water all my nepenthes every other day or so and they won’t pitcher if it doesn’t get enough light. I use sphagnum moss, bark and perlite. I also use net pots like for hydroponics to help with circulation. Even though they are in a west window I still have to use a powerful light 💡 4000 lumens
Everyone here has good advice. Nepenthes do not need pitchers to live, the most important thing to focus on is getting 10-12hrs bright light, and a good 3-4 of those being direct light. It’s important to not use tap water to water your nepenthes. The water you use should be either rain water or reverse osmosis, under 70 TDS. I find for most home environments a combination of long fiber spagnum and perlite with a handful of orchid bark or well washed coco chips. It retains moisture well so you’re only watering every 3 or so days. You want it to feel like a wrung out wash cloth most of the time. Do not let it dry out. Don’t worry too much about humidity, as long as you’re not in an indoor desert it will adapt. Let me know if you have any questions I’m always here to help here or @nepenthomancer on IG
