Hi guys update on the purple pitcher plant. Could the problem be over watering? And not a good enough drainage? The soil and roots have a foul smell and there’s some white spots on the stems. Could it be root rot? If so how can I fix it? Should I stop watering her? And also some of the green parts are mushy at the stem and brown. Please help
It looks like root rot could be the problem here actually, if you put it in 50% peat and 50% perlite that will give it the drainage it needs to survive. Repotting it in that mix is probably the best option and keep watering it, bog plants need lots of water to survive!
좋아요 1개 Also, cut off all of the brown squishy stuff at the base of the plant, that is rotted for sure.

좋아요 1개 Oh btw if the roots have white tips or are still white a bit the plant will have a much easier time recovering!

Definitely don’t dry it out all the way, it got over watered by lack of light not by too much water. They do like a bit more drainage 75% peat/25% perlite and a bit of sand is great.
좋아요 1개 THANK YOU ! I put it under some lights and will monitor the soil and I’ll update soon. I did notice that when I put it under a light the purple started coming out more and I’ll definitely try the sand. The problem was that one of the drainage holes where clogged so I unclogged it and made more lol

0개 좋아요 Oh it’s no bother at all I’m sorry I took so long to reply. No it shouldn’t need a humidity dome but once you’ve got it settled with higher light set it in a tray of water and fill. Once it’s all gone, leave it empty for two days, then refill. This is the most reliable way to water sarrs :D
0개 좋아요The pot it was previously in looks like terracotta. Terracotta pots can leak nutrients from the clay into the soil and into the roots of the plant. For most carnivorous plants, these nutrients from the pot, are harmful to them. I recommend a plastic pot
