Hello! I've recently started to get heavily into plants! (I have over 10 atm😅) Iv always wanted to get into carnivorous plants, would anyone here be able to help me get started with those fellas? (Im looking into possibly a Venus fly trap for my first but iv heard those are difficult to keep alive, is there any other ones that would be recommended for beginners?
I have a pitcher plant that I really love. I struggle growing new pitchers and keeping pitchers alive, but it's still growing. 🥰 So maybe a pitcher plant?

Biggest thing to know, don't buy the death box. Buy one from a reputable nursery. If it comes in a box it's gonna have struggles. - I also got a pitcher plant and a sundew for my first two. The sundew is a godsend with the gnats this year!
1 like Thank you! There's a very nice nursery around 20 minutes away, but im not sure if they sell carnivorous, would say, green acres be a okay place to get them?
0 likes Never heard of them! 😁 You're just gonna have to check out if they have some or not. I've found that pitcher plants from box stores have better chances than the Venus fly traps. I got my sundew from a 1man nursery at a plant show. It's easy to have plants shipped to you if no one local sells them in store
0 likes I think I've seen them there! But I'll look at the other nursery first since they do grow some of their own plants there too and everyone knows so much about plants 😁 thank you again! Can't wait to get into these carnivorous babies!

Purple pitcher plant I find easiest to keep alive. Give it distilled or rain water and don’t over feed. This a before and after a year

For a first carnivorous plant, I recommend getting a cape sundew, and sundews in general. Cape sundews are very hardy and don’t have a dormancy period, so you can easily keep them inside all year without worrying about that. (I started with a cape sundew personally)
