Hello! My fiancé’s nepenthes is growing quite oddly - it’s producing new pitchers very slowly, most of the ones it did have browned fully so we pruned them, and it seems to be only focused on climbing to the point we had to give it support. We only used distilled water, no fertilizer, and when it had more pitchers we would give it one of my lizard’s mealworms maybe every 1-2 months. Is this normal? What else can we do to help her? First an only carnivorous plant we own and I want to make sure I’m doing right by it. Thank you for any help!!

That’s normal you’re doing great!! They’re climbers by nature. Mine liked to climb our railing during the spring. We chpped him to move him inside for winter and he’s still happy as can be. Pitchers will come and go. Especially when they’re not being used. Whenever he puts out too small/bad pitchers, I cut them off to allow that leaf(s) to focus on photosynthesis instead of pitcher growth. (Yes our cat helps with that part as well as you can see with the bite marks lol 😅)
