Hey! Just got this app, and I have a venus flytrap that my cousin got my awhile ago. Yes its from a plastic container thingy you can buy at any store. So, i am giving it distilled water once a day from the diah in the bottom. It think it might be dying since some of the traps are dead. Help needed
What kind of lighting do you have this guy in? They loveeee lots of sunlight or strong grow lights also do you know what kind of soil it’s in?
1 me gusta Its about 5 feet from a window, but i can easily mov it closer. Either 2 feet away or right on the windo seal. Also not sure for the soil since it came as a gift, but those packages usually contain compressed unfertilized sphagnum peat moss or long-fiber sphagnum moss.

These guys like a TON of light- like usually a growlight if they’re not in a super sunny window.
1 me gusta Depending on what way the window is facing I’d say if it’s an east or west facing window you could set it right in the sill, if it’s a south facing maybe back just a little bit and see how it does. As fair as the soil they like a little mix of sphagnum peat moss and perlite and I add some sand for extra drainage so if you can repot that would be great too

the attaching bit is a petiole :-) traps will die all the time as they age. whenever it happens, you just cut the whole petiole off.

When I had VFTs, they were happiest in direct sunlight outside. If you're interested in keeping carnivorous plants, you may want to read The Savage Garden.
