Hi!! I just got a Venus fly trap. Any tips on how to care for it?

    Keep it sitting in distilled or rainwater at all times and give it the brightest light you have. Don’t plant in normal soil as it is sensitive. I use sphagnum moss. Don’t activate the traps. They can only close a number of times before dying. Traps turn black when they die. It’s normal for older traps or ones that have closed a bunch.

    Sphagnum moss mixed with perlite & a water dish underneath. It’s also recommended to keep them outside since they need a lot of sun

    make sure it’s always sitting in a tray with pebbles and distilled water. use sphagnum moss and perlite/pumice. don’t purposely activate traps unless you are feeding because it takes a lot of energy. don’t feed human foods like meat or cheese, only insects . feeding isn’t necessary, it’s just kinda like extra nutrients. they love bright light and humidity

    And you can make distilled water by getting some water in a cup and letting it sit for 24 hours then its distilled
