Howwwww do I care for this?? I just got it and it’s not in the best condition. I am obsessed but need to help heal it and I have no idea what I’m doing. Advice needed thank you 💕

AndrewNot claiming to be an expert on this plant but I have had one for a little over a month and it’s currently alive with new growth but finicky as heck!!!! I used miracle grow sphagnum peat moss and perlite close to 60/40, it’s outdoors facing east 4ish hours direct sun, 50%ish humidity, I only water it using water from a zero filter I think culligan bought you get from Walmart for like 20$. Following plantas recommended water schedule hardy zone 9. You might have a combo of this thing being indoors, nutrient issues with soil/water, maybe humidity?

Unfortunately I’m in MA so I can’t have it outside since it’s around 40 degrees at night 😭 the humidity in my home is 50-60. I try to make up for that with my grow lights, and it’s fairly warm in my house. I got it a few days ago, so haven’t needed to water yet but I did buy some distilled water for when I need to. I may try and do some more in depth research about indoor keeping them in colder environments. I appreciate the detailed response, thank you so much.

Distilled is best I’m just cheap. That humidity with a grow light and a little window love should be fine. The trick is that makes em finicky is the water balance. So if it looks like a swamp it’s probably better than not, just hard to achieve that indoors for me least. Good luck!

RyanI definitely would not use miracle gro sphagnum peat moss, it contains fertilizer which will overwhelm the root system and likely harm your plant. You generally shouldn’t use fertilizer in carnivorous plant soil.

Trickey9214I read you are in mass from an earlier comment and I hate to say, but as someone In RI its brutal out here getting most carnivorous plants to thrive. But they are beautiful and I believe In you, may just take some extra elbow grease and TLC

Zone 8a here. I have 2 indoors. Both in a west facing window. Mine like a lot of humidity. Planta has me mist. And I have a small humidifier I run for about 6-8 hours at night. They don’t like wet feet, so mine are not sitting in water dishes. Use Planta’s advice and she’ll do great!
