Kale Salad

Hi everyone! I just started my carnivorous plant journey and bought: Drosera Capillaris 'Pink Sundew' Sarracenia 'Bug Bat' Sarracenia Purpurea 'Venosa Red' Venus Flytrap 'Akai Ryu' Venus Flytrap (normal) I plan on putting them all in one 24inch bowl as a bog and have gotten mixed suggestions online as to what to put in the bog. For example, I see a lot of people here putting these plants in just long sphagnum moss, but other online sites say to use peat moss and perlite, and others say to mix all three peat moss, perlite, and sphagnum moss. Which combo would you guys suggest for these plants in a bog system?

    Peat moss perlite and sand have worked for me.. the sphagnum ends up breaking down and growing algae/ looking disgusting in my experience. Does your pot have a drainage hole?

    It does, but it seems I should seal it up for a bog, right? Also, does the algae harm anything? I feel I might actually like the look lol.

    So I got this baby just 2 days ago and the guys instructions (he's got a FULL HUMAN HEIGHT GARDEN of these, they look incredible) is this: "sat in rainwater, full sun, winter dormancy"). He's @ogie_placido on IG if that helps. So my sarracenia is planted with sphagnum moss, and yes, the pot has drainage but only so I can keep it happy swimming. He was very strict about RAINWATER ONLY. Hope that helps a bit 💚

      Sorry I’m just now seeing this but WOW that looks amazing! Since posting this mine has sprouted several new traps and grown like crazy and yes I mostly use rainwater (distilled only when it doesn’t rain) so I hope it one day gets as tall as this!
