Plant SOS!!!! I accidentally left my Venus fly trap outside and it rained a lot and a cold snap happened! Iâm so upset cause it was looking the best it ever had! You canât see in the picture but there is two babies that are growing and they look fine but the rest obviously doesnât. Is it still alive? What should I do to help it????
Do worry it will only enter dormancy, I know because I saw some helpful videos and the Venus fly trap in that video were covered in snow and came back during spring, so donât worry it will likely recover.
1 gilla Yes but I want to know what to do. Should I put it in dormancy now? Should I let it heal a little first? Is there some way to help it from rotting? Because I wasnât going to start dormancy till November. I know all about dormancy Iâve owned Pete for a while.
0 gillningar Leave it in the same spot and let it be dormant, but cover it when the harshest frosts happen and it will come back in spring.

0 gillningar I meant leave it on the window sill it was originally or put it on one if it wasnât, so it can feel the cold it needs to get into dormancy and make the window sill itâs on, is one in the lowest floor since lower the floor the colder it is to help with dormancy.

I live in Tennessee and Iâve had my plant for about 5 years. I leave my Venus Fly Trap, practically, in standing water in the Summer and it loves it. Overwatering wonât kill it. In the winter, I leave my plant outside if itâs above freezing. When below freezing, I move it to an enclosure to protect it. It always comes back in the Spring after going into dormancy during the winter. Loves it here in Tennessee đ
0 gillningar Sitting in standing water the plant canât be overwatered cause it chooses to bring it up, in this situation the rain forced it to be watered. Overwatering can indeed kill a Venus fly trap, I mean look at the picture. Itâs clearly squishy from water. But what Iâm more asking is how to help it from whatâs happened

It's fine mine are looking the same way, they're going to sleep. I would just wait until spring, trim off the dedead leaves and your plant will come back better and stronger.

Honestly I let mine get snowed on a little bit, helps them go dormant. Put in a cold windowsill or garage ( they donât really need light in winter). Then is spring itâll grow like never before

0 gillningar Also itâs hard to overwater Venus flytraps, mine sit is a tray filled about 1/3 the way up he pot with water. Once the water is depleted, I let it dry out for a day or two and refill
