Plant SOS!!!! I accidentally left my Venus fly trap outside and it rained a lot and a cold snap happened! I’m so upset cause it was looking the best it ever had! You can’t see in the picture but there is two babies that are growing and they look fine but the rest obviously doesn’t. Is it still alive? What should I do to help it????
Do worry it will only enter dormancy, I know because I saw some helpful videos and the Venus fly trap in that video were covered in snow and came back during spring, so don’t worry it will likely recover.
좋아요 1개 Yes but I want to know what to do. Should I put it in dormancy now? Should I let it heal a little first? Is there some way to help it from rotting? Because I wasn’t going to start dormancy till November. I know all about dormancy I’ve owned Pete for a while.
0개 좋아요 Leave it in the same spot and let it be dormant, but cover it when the harshest frosts happen and it will come back in spring.

0개 좋아요 I meant leave it on the window sill it was originally or put it on one if it wasn’t, so it can feel the cold it needs to get into dormancy and make the window sill it’s on, is one in the lowest floor since lower the floor the colder it is to help with dormancy.

I live in Tennessee and I’ve had my plant for about 5 years. I leave my Venus Fly Trap, practically, in standing water in the Summer and it loves it. Overwatering won’t kill it. In the winter, I leave my plant outside if it’s above freezing. When below freezing, I move it to an enclosure to protect it. It always comes back in the Spring after going into dormancy during the winter. Loves it here in Tennessee 😀
0개 좋아요 Sitting in standing water the plant can’t be overwatered cause it chooses to bring it up, in this situation the rain forced it to be watered. Overwatering can indeed kill a Venus fly trap, I mean look at the picture. It’s clearly squishy from water. But what I’m more asking is how to help it from what’s happened

It's fine mine are looking the same way, they're going to sleep. I would just wait until spring, trim off the dedead leaves and your plant will come back better and stronger.

Honestly I let mine get snowed on a little bit, helps them go dormant. Put in a cold windowsill or garage ( they don’t really need light in winter). Then is spring it’ll grow like never before

0개 좋아요 Also it’s hard to overwater Venus flytraps, mine sit is a tray filled about 1/3 the way up he pot with water. Once the water is depleted, I let it dry out for a day or two and refill
