Hello, I picked up my first Venus fly trap on the weekend and one of the heads (?) is turning black. I think it has a bug inside that was there when I bought it. Is it sick?

    In my experience with Venus fly traps, traps usually die off after consuming a a few meals. It’s a normal part of the plant cycle.

    Yeah, it’s just part of the cycle. Once a head gets a fly it will turn black and digest it. Once it’s totally black you can pick it off. Hope this helps!

    It won’t let me post a link but California Carnivores has a great detailed video on how to grow these little guys! It’s called: Ultimate Venus Flytrap Care Guide on YouTube, it’s about an hour long but has helped answer every question I had when I first started ! This is part of its life cycle though ! Don’t stress too much :)
